Let's Grow at Garden

On Wednesday, May 6th, Chart Members of ACHIEVE and senior citizens of Flatwood Community Center came together for an offical "Planting" of the first Commuity Garden in Montgomery County. Seniors and volunteers weeded the four raised beds, worked the soil and planted the first round of vegetables - tomatoes and bell peppers. Soon to follow, the group will be planting cataloupes and cucumbers.

Prior to the planting, ACHIEVE Co-Chairs, James Williams and Jennifer Anderson, welcomed the crowd and recognized team members. Montgomery County Commissioner, Rev. Jiles Williams, congratulated the group on their work and said a blessing over the soil and the future fruits of the group's labor. Everyone is looking forward to a bountiful crop in weeks to come.
